Pattaya’s Helmet Clampdown Yields Great Results!

Oct 2011_206_resize

As you can clearly see from the above photograph, Pattaya’s strict clampdown to make people wear helmets on motorbikes, advertised everywhere, and strictly enforced at many police checkpoints around Fun Town this high season, is yielding massive results.

The lady on the motorbike seen exiting the car park in the above photograph, just behind the five carefree children zooming along Thappraya Road recently, is certainly wearing hers, proving what a success this campaign has really been in changing the dangerous habits of Pattaya's motorbike riders.

What on earth are these children's parents thinking of ? None of the children look old enough to have a driving licence, and what would they know about safety helmets ? If the Police can recognise these children perhaps they should go and arrest their parents for child neglect & stupidity!

LOL ..... do you really think that even half of the Thai motor cyclists have a driving licence or are even old enough to have one? I would take an educated guess that 50% don't have licences and of that 50%, 70% are kids too young to have one.

The casual approach to law inforcement viz helmets has a paradigm in spain.
last time i was there the old bill was nicking everyone,FOR ONE DAY ONLY! next day
the helmetless were out in force again. The only constant was Police motorbikes on tunnel
exits fining tourists for not having the headlights on.Same old trick.
